I'm a sucker for a well executed event and nothing is more exciting to me than bringing together clever business chicks in one room to network and collaborate. If the food and backdrop happen to be killer then that's even better.

Truth be told I've been lucky enough to attend some incredible events this year - and have been privy to see many happenings around the globe too - so moving forward I'll be sharing more of these industry events in a new 'Around Town' column launching in 2016 so stay tuned.

In the meantime I couldn't help but share an event (check out that centrepiece!) hosted by two dear friends in celebration of their new venture, The Decorating School.  The launch of The Decorating School came about because friends, Emma Blomfield and Sonya Pala, kept seeing people struggling to create living spaces that reflected their values and supported their lifestyle. With their combined interests, Emma & Sonya realised if they aligned their knowledge and expertise, they could create an inspiring and genuinely useful online resource to help spread the principles and values of amazing design far and wide - collaboration at it's finest!

Stay tuned as their their inaugural course, Plan, Decorate, Live is now live and designed to instil confidence and provide basic design principles. In such a visual world I absolutely love how they combined a beautiful offline event to honour and celebrate their work online. Well done ladies on a stellar launch - big things ahead for 2016! x Jac

Blog Society Heads To Adelaide // Events

We're hitting the road and heading to Adelaide!

Events are (and have always been) a core part of the Blog Society philosophy. There is no substitute for face to face connection, the ability to laugh together, share conversation, and experiences. It was with this in mind that I'm setting out, starting this weekend, with a surge of new and exciting Blog Society events, taking place around Australia in June and July (with aims to launch this in other corners of the world in 2016!)

Our Perth events sold out within 24 hours but I'm excited to announce a new event we're taking to Adelaide called #bizboss, a full-day immersive business workshop for creative souls on 18 July.

For this brand new series I'm teaming up with talented, creative powerhouses Emma Kate Co and Amuse Creative to bring to Adelaide an event that will cover the ins and outs of running and building a creative business. We're tackling everything from content marketing, brand building, rocking Instagram, charging what you're worth, how to say no and more! Personally I can't wait to visit Adelaide for the first time and can feel such a creative energy just buzzing through the air every time I chat with our Adelaide community. Looking forward to having some real, honest conversations and leaving with you inspiration and information that hits straight to your head and heart.

Only a few tickets limited for this one folks - get more info and grab your ticket here.  See you soon Adelaide and if you'd love to host or have Blog Society visit your city just shoot me a note or reply to this email, I'm scouting locations for later this year and early 2016 and would love to chat!  x Jaclyn

Luisa Brimble, acclaimed event photographer and instagram legend will continue her hands on photography workshop, walking around the farm cottage, teaching you the art of photographing food, gardens, interiors and landscapes with different manual camera settings to suit indoor and outdoor shooting. You might collect fresh eggs, visit a vegetable garden, wander down the paddock to a wombat hole, and share an afternoon tea picnic by a blissful weir before taking in the beautiful views across the valley.

Bonfire Finale
Then we will then gather around the campfire as the sun sets to enjoy some toasted marhsmallows and red wine by the fire, learning to take photos on manual in low light while we share our highlights from the day before we say goodbye.

Hope you can join us!

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

happy-holidays

Things have gone a little quiet here this week as we've been basking in the holiday spirit and soaking up some much needed time with family and friends. The decorations are up, the Christmas carols are cranking and we're taking a little holiday blogging hiatus which means I'm going to enjoy a bit of a digital detox and slow down the posting here while we refresh for the new year ahead.

I hope that you do the same and enjoy the holiday with those you love. Wish you peace, love and  a happiness! Merry Christmas...

Alt Summit // Winter 2015 Speaker Schedule Announced

Alt-Summit

Ask the question.

Whenever I'm asked about the best advice I could give someone that is trying to follow their dreams those 3 little words pour from my mouth and from my heart. Ask the question.

For so long I used to sit and watch as other people succeeded and accomplished things I only dreamed of. It baffled me, made me envious, confused and lost as if there was a secret ingredient that I seemed to be missing out on. It was only later did I realise that there was a secret ingredient that at the time escaped me: courage.

I'm been so, so lucky and there have been some incredible opportunities that have come my way and I attribute those to a wonderful combination of hard work, good timing, pure luck - and courage. I've realised now that if you want something to happen you have to ask for it. Not the sexiest advice but it's true and that's just what happened when I set out years ago with the dream to someday speak at Alt Summit.

I carried that dream around with me for years until I worked up the courage to apply to speak. I had nothing to lose but when I got the email from the event founders a few weeks ago announcing their 2015 Speaker line-up and congratulating me that I'd been chosen to speak it was moment I won't forget. I stood there amazed, in that sort of dazed, surreal feeling of dreaming about something for so long and then having it actually happen kind of moment. Then of course I jumped up and down because for me it was a really big moment - and still is. It's a bit strange to think that in a few weeks I'll be off to Salt Lake City to speak to hundreds of bloggers at an event that I've admired for sooo long. I'm nervous, excited and filled with a million different emotions but the simple fact is, this moment never would have arrived if I hadn't of asked the question.

Don't wait, don't hesitate, don't talk yourself out if it. Find the courage....and ask the question. See you all at Alt Summit...
