The Friday Files

Shhh...I'm sneaking out to write this post while away for the Easter holiday weekend here in Australia. I promised my better half that I'd keep the work to a minimum so while he's getting ready for a surf I'm clearing out the inbox and saying hello to you guys!

At the moment I'm up the coast in a beautiful little placed called Noosa - it's my first time here and it's a pure slice of heaven. I create best when I'm able to clear my head and have plenty of open space so we've snuck away for a little pre-launch getaway knowing full well that April is going to be full of long days and big stretches of hustle so it's a bit like the calm before the storm!

I'll happily take it as I work best in surges and as my feet are in the sand and coffee by my side as I type I couldn't be happier.  Lots of exciting things in the works over the coming weeks so stay tuned and if you want to see more of our Noosa adventure make sure to check us out on Instagram - and for those wanting a virtual escape I've got some great link love below. Happy weekend! x Jaclyn

It's been a crazy week for the Blog Society team - from seeing Elizabeth Gilbert speak last weekend (yes she was amazing, lyrical and poetic), to welcoming some new faces to our team, a few early morning phone calls with the US to tee up some cool collaborations coming soon and finally a decision was made on a pretty big shift for us that was both wildly unexpected, slightly scary and altogether out of our comfort zone...but that is where all the good magic starts doesn't it?

Before things begin get really busy (April is going to be insanely crazy and wonderful as we head into launch mode and welcome new students into our next round of Digital Bravery!) we decided to head off to Bali with some friends for a bit of rest and relaxation so I'm currently typing this by the pool in the still of the morning - balmy air and incense all around me. It may be the calm before the storm but I'm enjoying every damn moment. Enjoy your weekend xx Jac

Blog Society Heads To Adelaide // Events

We're hitting the road and heading to Adelaide!

Events are (and have always been) a core part of the Blog Society philosophy. There is no substitute for face to face connection, the ability to laugh together, share conversation, and experiences. It was with this in mind that I'm setting out, starting this weekend, with a surge of new and exciting Blog Society events, taking place around Australia in June and July (with aims to launch this in other corners of the world in 2016!)

Our Perth events sold out within 24 hours but I'm excited to announce a new event we're taking to Adelaide called #bizboss, a full-day immersive business workshop for creative souls on 18 July.

For this brand new series I'm teaming up with talented, creative powerhouses Emma Kate Co and Amuse Creative to bring to Adelaide an event that will cover the ins and outs of running and building a creative business. We're tackling everything from content marketing, brand building, rocking Instagram, charging what you're worth, how to say no and more! Personally I can't wait to visit Adelaide for the first time and can feel such a creative energy just buzzing through the air every time I chat with our Adelaide community. Looking forward to having some real, honest conversations and leaving with you inspiration and information that hits straight to your head and heart.

Only a few tickets limited for this one folks - get more info and grab your ticket here.  See you soon Adelaide and if you'd love to host or have Blog Society visit your city just shoot me a note or reply to this email, I'm scouting locations for later this year and early 2016 and would love to chat!  x Jaclyn

Feeling full of thoughts today and few words – does that happen to you too? As bloggers and entrepreneurs we so often consume and create that sometimes it helps to just slow down and be still. To think rather than write, to observe rather than pin or post or update.

This weekend I’ll be back in creation mode as we fully prep for our Digital Bravery E-course launch happening on the 13 June – it’s been a flurry of excitement at Blog Society HQ as we get ready to welcome another round of students from around the world and look to kick start those business dreams that may have fallen silent since our new years resolutions slipped away. So I encourage all of you to sit quietly, to think about where you are today, how you want to feel and see if you have dreams yet realized or goals not yet chased. It’s not too late to make them happen…happy weekend everyone. xx

  • Not where you wanted to be this June? This will help you get unstuck.
  • Go that little bit extra – it’s all worth it.
  • One of my must read blogs for entertaining tips
  • The balancing act of working full time AND running a business – hands up if you relate?
  • Meal in a bowl? Now this is a culinary trend I can follow.
  • A good re-brand feels like a fresh clean start – this one is tops (and pretty daring!)

Yana Puaca Of NoMad Luxuries // Behind The Blog Scene

It never ceases to amaze me the learning lessons that can be found when you reach out and connect with strangers. A lot of the interviews I've been lucky enough to conduct this year are the result of my trip overseas to Alt Summit, where I connected with strangers that soon became friends, with contacts online that shared similar passions and whom at the end of the day share a love of blogging that knows no global boundaries.

That's why I'm so glad to have Yana from NoMad Luxuries on the blog today. Despite blogging from an entirely different continent, she and I share a love for flea markets, travel and chocolate with sea salt - it's the small things in life that matter right?  Beyond that she has worked with some of the top lifestyle sites in the US, but began her blog just like you and I - as a creative outlet. Enjoy her refreshing advice and don't forget to bookmark her blog when you're feeling in need of a wanderlust fix....

Describe your blog in 3 words…
Global, luxurious and sophisticated
What is your blogging manifesto?
NoMad Luxuries is a lifestyle blog for the woman who wants to create and live a beautiful and inspired life. Started in 2010, NoMad Luxuries has evolved into much more: a place where women can focus on the details that bring a global flavor to life. Beautifully-inspired interiors, trendy fashion and worldly-dishes add a stamp to your virtual passport. A source of inspiration for creating a well-styled life.
Top 3 blogging essentials?
My Canon, my laptop and good tunes. Chocolate doesn’t hurt either.
My biggest blogging moment/milestone was....
When you’re first starting out, everything seems to be a big deal since it’s a first. Up to this a point it’s been such an amazing experience collaborating with Home Depot, The Everygirl and joining as a contributor to the Style Me Pretty network. I’m looking forward to a lot more firsts!
Best piece of advice I've been given?
Be persistent. Eventually the universe will get the message and work with you to make things happen. Also, sometimes the wrong train will get you to the right station. So, don’t be afraid to take risks!
I'm dreaming about traveling to...
India. We’re hoping to make it happen this year- I’m so intrigued by the exotic and vibrant culture.
Best piece of advice to a newbie blogger?
Find your own voice and style. There are so many amazing blogs out there that it’s so easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing. You need to find a way to tune out the other voices and find your own niche. Once you do, readers and brands will notice.
If I wasn't blogging I'd be...
Curating and buying for my own boutique. Oh wait…
Behind the scenes of my blog looks like...
While there’s no typical day in the life of blogging, most days involve emails, brainstorming and planning, writing, shooting with my amazing photographer, Jennifer Coffey, and tons of food. I’m always eating.
This year I'm most excited about...
Opening up my first storefront of vintage furniture and homewares. This has been a dream of mine for quite some time and I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with the world.
