A Look Back // A Sydney Kinfolk Gathering

There are some events that hold a special place in your heart. That stand out, forever etched in your memory and one such event was the Kinfolk Sydney Gathering that took place last year. I actually can't believe that I haven't posted about it before but stumpled upon the photos while cleaning out the laptop this weekend and had to share it with you here, it's too beautiful to keep to myself.

As many of you know gatherings are a core part of what Blog Society is all about, I personally believe that face to face connection is the bond that ties us all together and I can't wait to expand upon that here in the coming weeks and bring you a variety of events from around the world that have caught my eye, brought people together and created some lasting memories for everyone involved.

For now sit back and enjoy the deliciousness that occurred at Glenmore House last November on a warm summer night. As the Kinfolk team so perfectly stated, "there was a contagious optimism floating around the well-connected Australian creative community, and rather than a generating a feeling of petty competitiveness, the scene here is all about collaboration." And I couldn't agree more. I remember sitting down to eat and looking around, emotionally moved at the energy you could feel and remembering why I had started Blog Society in the first place - to extend that energy and power of colloaboration to others. Our next Kinfolk event is coming soon, keep your eyes peeled...

Event // One Fine Baby

There is a huge difference in wanting to do something, dreaming about it, talking about it - and actually doing it. Taking that leap and creating action is a step I hugely admire in other bloggers and business owners. It's not an easy step, it's always scary, daring but the end result can be something incredible.

When I first heard about the launch of One Fine Baby, from the talented trio behind One Fine Day, I immediately knew it was going to be a huge success. I'm lucky enough to know these creative women personally. I know they have worked hard and pooled their creative talents and business skills to create a thriving business that is constantly reinventing itself and paving a new path for events here in Australia. I'm proud to have seen their success blossom first hand and can't wait to see their new venture take shape.

I'm even more excited to see it in person on 16 & 17 August when the show launches in Sydney. Are you going? I'll be there along with a ton of other bloggers (with or without kids) ready to soak up the most stylish children's products around.  It's Monday so get inspired and if you're sitting on the fence about to turn your dream into a reality I hope these ladies motivate you to take the next step. If you want to find out more about these biz savvy chicks or about One Fine Baby, check out their website where you can scoop up tickets.

Vivid Sydney The Retreat // Wrap Up

The morning of our Vivid Sydney: Blog Society Retreat event was filled with sunshine and an incredible energy felt by everyone in the room. It was a telltale sign of good things to come and after pouring so much of my heart and soul into planning this blog event, I was so, so pleased with how the workshop turned out and the learning that was shared.

I credit that outcome to the attendees that came ready to learn, ask questions and absorb information and to my incredible line-up of speakers and moderators all of whom shared advice and information openly, honestly and doused with wit and humour.  We talked about the business of blogging, SEO, working with brands, personal challenges, the highs and lows, the tipping point for making money and doing it for the shear love of connection.  We sipped coffee with one of the best views in Sydney, swapped stories, walked away with goodie bags filled to the brim with brands I am proud to collaborate with and took notes until our hands hurt.

As with most big events in life, it went by in a blur and we could have stayed their talking and learning for hours - don't worry another event is already in the works for next year!  All in all it went down as the event I've been most proud to host and I can't wait to do it all again soon. A humble thank you to all of you who supported the event and got involved - our community wouldn't exist with your shared passion.

Event // Eat Read Love Pop Up

I have always said that blogging is so much more than just an online experience, it has been a catalyst for some of the most creative collaborations and friendships I have. So I suppose it's only fitting that today I'm bringing you highlights from a recent stand out event hosted by Natalie Hayllar of Eat Read Love who has become a kindred blogging spirit and a close friend.

The Eat Read Love Pop Up Dinner series started last year and her latest gathering celebrated Hotel Centennial's new High Table restaurant overlooking Sydney’s Centennial Parklands in Woollahra.  It was a night filled with incredible food, wine and conversations with old and new friends...a huge congrats to Nat and her team - Lisa Madigan and Nadean Richards for another amazing collaboration.

Event News // The Retreat at Vivid Sydney

Yes, this is happening.

Welcome to The Retreat, a morning workshop that proudly is part of this year's Vivid Sydney line up and brings all of my favourites together in one place - blogging, education and community. It's one of the events we've been staying up late and waking up early to bring you. It's the kind of workshop that I love hosting, that makes all the emails and phone calls worth it because The Retreat is going to be one action packed, fun-filled morning of blogging goodness.

But don't take my word for it. Check out our incredible line-up of speakers here, all of whom are lovely ladies each with a unique blog story to tell. Join us on 24 May but hurry tickets are almost sold out.  Grab them here and treat yourself to a well deserved morning just for you..
