Event // An Abundant Life Book Launch

So often we are stuck behind our screens creating digital magic that we neglect the true magic that comes from face to face connections. I got a great reminder of this recently when I headed out to the 'An Abundant Life' book tour hosted by Soul Sister Circle in Sydney.

It was a beautiful event, the kind that immediately calms away the stresses of the day and makes you focus inward, realising yet again how importance self-care - or soul care - really is. Ezzie Spencer's new book, An Abundant Life is all about embracing the lunar cycle, something that I admittedly knew little about but I left intrigued and absolutely spellbound at the undeniable lunar energy that not only radiated from the room but from Ezzie herself.

We've just welcomed a brand New Moon so it's time to give yourself permission to really dream and feel into your intention for this upcoming cycle. Commit to your intention by vocalising or writing it down, and make a firm commitment to sit with your intention throughout the entire lunar cycle.

For a bit of guidance on what intention to set at the upcoming New Moon, listen to Ezzie's most recent Podcast or to track the moon through all of it's phases during the lunar cycle, download Ezzie's free 2017 Moon Phases Planner.

Top 5 Reasons I Decided To Host A Telesummit

By Sarah Schwab

About 9 months ago, I was trying to figure out what to do next to build my business. I looked at many options, but decided that I wanted to go big! Do something that would make a clear, significant difference in my business. Something that could help achieve my vision and spread my message to a lot of people.

I decided to host a telesummit.

Have you attended a telesummit before? Ever thought about hosting one? My event is called the Create, Connect and Convert online summit, and you can check it out here. But first, let me explain a little more.

What is a telesummit?
A telesummit is like an online conference. There is a theme for the summit so it’s clear who it is for and what they will get from it. (Mine is all about creating content that you can use to market your business.) There are a number of speakers who participate in the summit (mine has 20 - one of which is Blog Society founder, Jaclyn Carlson!) who all bring their own expertise to the topic.

Typically a summit will last between 3-10 days, with 1-5 speakers each day. I am just about to launch my summit, and it’s a huge undertaking. So why did I choose to do this?

Here are my top 5 reasons…

1. Reaches A LOT More People Than Anything Else
How many platforms do you know where you can reach over 100,000 people who are warm leads? I was tired of reaching a few hundred or even a few thousand people at a time. Hosting a telesummit allowed me to create a bigger audience than I could have imagined because of the cumulative reach of the speakers involved.

Plus, unlike running ads to a cold audience, people would be hearing from someone they already trust and have a relationship with.  That’s a powerful combination!

2. Creates A Ton Of Value
There is a lot of information in a summit. Each speaker provides tips and ideas that the listeners can implement. They share stories to inspire people and offer resources to help them out.

As a Content Creation Coach, I believe in the power of sharing valuable content. It is how we attract people, build relationships with them, and gain their trust. Hosting a summit is like content creation on steroids! In the end I will have over 12 hours of powerful content. We will share it with a lot of people during the event. Plus it becomes an asset in my business that I can repurpose and use in other ways down the line.

3. Builds Your List
Having a large list of potential customers is important for any business, especially those of us who work online. I’ve been growing my list for a while now, and the truth is that I had built a decent following by many standards. But I felt stuck. It was going too slow, and I wasn’t able to break through to the next level. Can you relate? I didn’t want to add a few people to my list, or even a few hundred. I wanted to quickly add thousands of quality leads to my list. Is that a pipe dream? A well-produced telesummit is designed to do exactly that. It has the potential to add thousands of people to your list in a relatively short period of time. Notice that I said “quickly” not “easily!”  It definitely requires a lot of work, but so do other list-building techniques. I decided I was willing to give it a shot.

4. Connects You To Like-Minded People
The main thing a telesummit can do is bring people together. It’s all about connecting with people on both sides of the screen. First, I get to connect with other speakers who share my passion, and bring their own expertise to it. It’s a very collaborative experience, and creates relationships and partnerships that I plan to carry into the future. Plus, everyone who signs up to attend the summit becomes part of the event community. There is a great energy when people come together around a common idea. I believe that truly connecting with people not only grows your business, but it enriches your I get to be in the spotlight.

5. I get to be at the center of all the excitement.
It’s not about getting attention (okay, maybe it’s a little bit about that). It’s more about positioning myself as a leader in my field. Truly becoming a go-to person, and a respected expert. Hosting a telesummit is big undertaking, but it’s a great way to create connections, build your reputation, and grow your business. Speaking on summits is another great way to get in front of new people and collaborate with others.

What do you think? Is hosting or participating in a telesummit in your future? Interested in checking one out to see what it’s all about? The Create, Connect and Convert Telesummit is starting on April 13th. Our goal is to inspire you to create content, because that is how we spread our message, reach more people, and make a bigger difference. I have a fantastic group of successful entrepreneurs (again, including your own Jaclyn Carlson!) who will share their expertise about creating different types of content, and how they have used it to grow their business.

Events are in my blood - and a core part of what we do here at Blog Society. I'm committed to sharing more of our own events here - and those from around the globe - so that all of my readers can get a behind the scenes glimpse into these fun gatherings and see what is happening in our blogging community.

Recently in Sydney I held a Speed Marketing workshop along with Zoe Weldon from Seeker Lover Dreamer and Nadia Felsch as part of the new launched, New Beginnings Fair. The event was a new one for me but I loved the format: quick and focused on what really matters...getting shit done.

The event was held in a gorgeous industrial space, right on Sydney harbour and we had 1 hour to delve into the worlds of marketing strategy, social media, branding and self-care. It's was a fun, hands on session with two of my favourite ladies and we filled it with raw, honest, humuor filled advice in a speed dating format.

For me when I was thinking about what I wanted to teach in my segment - which was only 15 minutes long - clearly knew it was going to be difficult to narrow down the world of marketing in such a short period. So I decided to focus on something that I think is essential to business success - and that’s planning.

A strategy or plan will keep you focused, less stressed, help you make decisions and allows you to stop wasting time. I’ve found with my own personal coaching clients that most business owners have these big lofty goals, a million things on their to-do list, an endless supply of ideas - but no plan to get there.

The perception of creating a strategy is that it’s complex and difficult but that is exactly why I wanted to dispel that rumour.  During the worksheet I walked everyone through my Blog Society 'Get Shit Done' plan which is a mini version of our popular 90-Day Marketing Plan Template which you can download for free below to help you get started with your own planning today.

The group of students dove into these excercises and shared candidly about their struggles as newbie bloggers and biz owners - it was both refreshing and reassuring to know that everyone goes through the same emotions when starting out and I encourage anyone feeling overwhelmed to download the free template above and start getting your thoughts on paper - trust me it works!

I'm also a big fan of making my events extra special for our attendees and that means making sure that extra attention is paid to the smaller details.  From the music that creates a great vibe, to the venue, to the little gifts that compliment our content, events are always, always about the detail.

I want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to the small businesses and fellow #girlbosses that helped support our event - stunning greeting cards from Little Branches, gorgeous letterpress Thank You postcards from Coco Press and exquisite feather tip pens from Jot It Down. These ladies are killing it in their own industries and were thrilled to have them supporting our event. x Jac

March into Merivale 2016 // Guilty Pleasures

March Into Merivale
March Into Merivale

This year is all about nourishment for me – including nourishment of the senses and continued inspiration. Many of you know that I’m a die-hard events fan and absolutely love to host events that bring people together. But I also love getting glimpses into other blogging events from around the world and will be committed to sharing more of these this year – in fact I have a TON of events to report on from last year that we hosted that I’ll be sharing soon – stay tuned!

In the meantime I wanted to share some information on March into Merivale, the annual five-week food and wine festival taking Sydney by storm every year. Now in its eighth year, the event is surely the most anticipated on Sydney’s culinary calendar. With over 50 restaurants and bars ready to showcase the food and chefs who make Merivale venues the best in town. This year March into Merivale is your excuse to just go for it! To yield to your guiltiest pleasures… and then some, with first-class food, desserts of the highest sin, and cheeky drinks to keep the party rolling. March into Merivale kicked off in style on Feb 10, and for the next five weeks will be showcasing the best of Merivale with events at Mr Wong, The Paddington, Felix, Ms.G’s, sushi e and many more. Choose from luxurious Champagne tasting evenings, desserts dripping in chocolate, beachside carnivals, shameless dance parties and once-in-a-lifetime dinners.

Last week I was luckily enough to join Natalie from Eat Read Love and 20 of Sydney’s best food and lifestyle bloggers at the March Into Merivale exclusive preview launch dinner. Hosted by Rebecca Gibbs, we indulged in chef David Lovett’s Ultimate Guilty Pleasures Menu overlooking the Ivy Pool Bar from Uccello. It was a decadent dinner, held poolside and with the theme of ‘guilty pleasures’ – pure heaven on a beautiful Sydney summer evening.

March into Merivale runs from Feb 15- 20th March. For all of the details and bookings head to www.marchintomerivale.com.au

Coming at you with some visual eye candy today to get you through the mid week hump! Nothing fills our creative tank like a well executed event. Fresh flowers, pops of colour, dreamy views and a great vibe make for an event to remember and our gal pal, Natalie Hayllar from Eat Read Love is no stranger to pulling off the impossible and creating consistent, one of a kind and sought after events here in Australia.

Her most recent event, a relaxed 'Summer Soiree by the Sea', took place at the beautiful Beachside Dojo Manly Rooftop in Sydney and we're reporting on all the Pinterest worthy pics and details to help inspire your own summer celebration.

Taking advantage of Sydney's summer weather, guests mingled in the rooftop bar overlooking picturesque Manly beach, sharing New Year's resolutions over a glass of sparkling D&B Rose 'Pour les-Amour'. Floral designers, The Sisters,  created a magical floral table display, with whimsical over-hanging greenery, hot pink Dahlias and luscious pink roses with Gascoigne & King Belle candles burning brightly in between.  Each guest received a bespoke gift box from online gift registry From The Owl, lovely homewares from Millie & Archer and a luxury travel guide from Mr & Mrs Smith. Guests dined on a shared Asian inspired menu of fresh and cooked seafood, Sushi, Sashimi and salads, with the sound of waves crashing in the background, as the steamy afternoon storm rolled in.

An event to remember? I certainly think so.
