I spend a lot of time reading blogs and find nothing draws me in as much as an honest, raw voice. In a world where 'perfect' reigns queen amongst the blogosphere, I'm always impressed with someone who can speak from their heart and have honest discussions and connections with their readers. We all have our own unique voice and stories to tell so carve out your own path and don't be afraid to have an option or make a strong statement - often great things will follow.
This is certainly something that Trina McNeilly of La La Lovely has excelled at. Not only is her blog beautiful to look at but her words ring true and you can tell she is blogging from a place of meaning, you almost feel like you know her just by reading her posts. It was this honesty and openess that made me so excited to speak to her and share her with the Australian community. She's got some great bits of wisdom to pass along...enjoy.
Describe your blog in 3 words…
Bright, authentic, lovely
What is your blogging manifesto?
I don't really have one. I really should work on this, however, I really hope to bring a bit of lovely into my readers day. Whether it's a 10 minute escape to gaze upon beautiful and inspiring imagery or to encourage them to look for the beauty that each day holds. I love to share lovely things that I find, but I also know that the most lovely things in life are not things, at all. I like to write about that too.
Top 3 blogging essentials?
My mac computer, camera and a notebook to catch my thoughts and record what my eyes spy.
My biggest blogging moment/milestone was....
Collaborating with The Land of Nod last year. I designed several rooms in a New York City apartment and my home. both were featured in their catalog.
Right now I'm listening to...
Well at this very moment i'm listening to classic music medley on Pandora but, as far as artists go, i'm loving Ellie Holcomb and Two Door Cinema Club.
Best piece of advice to a newbie blogger?
Just be yourself. There is no other you. While you may have similar taste, style or interests as other bloggers, no one has your words or exact perspective. So, do your best to find your voice and then be true to it and, i'd also say just get started. A blog is like a living thing it's always evolving and changing. You grow with it so go grow, girl!
If I wasn't blogging I'd be...
Probably working in my families newspaper business.
Behind the scenes of my blog looks like...
Me, sometimes in pj's, at my desk in my bedroom clicking away on the computer, coffee close by and 2 toddlers tugging at my legs.
In 2014 I'm most excited about...
I know 2014 has some amazing things in store, I'm just not sure what, yet however, in general, I'm looking forward to writing a bit more.
