So it’s no secret I’ve been in serious blog hibernation lately, the winter weather combined with a seriously packed calendar has left my blogging energy at an all-time low. I am however grateful for the support I’ve received and for so many of you admitting to feeling the same thing – there is comfort in numbers right? A blogging friend kindly reminded me that in Chinese medicine winter represents a time to reflect on our health, replenish our energy, and conserve our strength.
So I suppose that is exactly what I’ve been doing and after a particularly restful long weekend I can feel the energy creeping back in and I’m excited to be back at the keyboard sharing an interview with a blogger who radiates positive energy and creativity. Please say hello to Chelsea Foy from Lovely Indeed, a blog that embraces the little lovely moments that happen in our lives. I tend to visit Chelsea’s blog on a regular bases, especially when I need a burst of energy, a splash of colour or simply to get a glimpse of her life in California which tends to make me nostalgic for when I used to live in LA years ago. It’s a beautiful blog and I’m so happy to share her insights and blogging advice below…thanks Chelsea!
Describe your blog in 3 words…
Happy, honest, fun.
What is your blogging manifesto?
Life is lovely -- capture it and portray it in a beautiful way.
Top 3 blogging essentials?
Canon DSLR, iPhone, MacBook Pro. Good to go!
My biggest blogging moment/milestone was....
Being a speaker on a panel at Alt Summit 2013. It was such a surreal honor to be sharing ideas with my friends and peers.
My dream collaboration would be?
Oh my gosh, TARGET! I mean, Target is the answer to everything.
Right now I'm listening to...
The sound of my husband typing away on his keyboard. We both work from home and our desks are right next to each other. Sometimes we forget to turn on music and after a couple of hours it makes us both crazy!
Best piece of advice to a newbie blogger?
Be consistent, be quality, be real. It's so important to honor the integrity of your readers by giving them a consistent blogging schedule filled with the things that you truly love and are excited about. If you provide that, no doubt people will start recognize what you're doing and will keep coming back.
If I wasn't blogging I'd be...
Singing and dancing onstage! My husband and I were both musical theater actors before we started our own businesses and still do shows when they fit in our schedule. There's not much that feels better than being hit with a spotlight center stage.
Behind the scenes of my blog looks like...
Lots and lots of lists. I'm organized almost to a fault -- sometimes I worry it hinders my creativity by putting things on too tight a schedule. But I know that if I get off track I'll just go bonkers.
In 2014 I'm most excited about...
Our first baby, due in November!
